2021 Model Year Information
Wanting to know what will be new, redesigned and even available for 2021 model year vehicles? You’ve come to the right place.
Many manufacturers had plans to produce and release new models in 2021, but due to the impacts from the COVID19 pandemic, many made decisions to delay these productions until 2022. This list is ever changing and these models while planned for 2021 can still be impacted by this pandemic production landscape.

Here are a some of the models that the automotive industry is looking forward to:
Acura –
The Acura TLX Sedan (available Fall 2020) gets a complete redesign with a bold statement on performance and style throughout the trim levels. TLX Sedan shares a platform with its sister SUV the Acura RDX SUV which was redesigned in 2020.
Audi –
The E Tron SUV, (available in Summer 2020) originally planned for a full year 2020 release. With COVID19 impacts to production, majority of production slated to be a 2021 model. Audi expecting a big marketing boost a German engineered performance flagship electric SUV to rival Tesla’s market share
BMW –
4 Series (available late 2020) receives a refresh design over all its options. Coupe, Convertible, and Grand Coupe versions
General Motors –
Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Tahoe (available late 2020) – all three large 7 passenger SUV brands that share a production platform receive redesigns to sharpen their exterior appearance and improve their interior design. Additionally, reduce road noise levels as well as improve standard safety and technology features inside.
Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon (available summer 2020), already introduced as a mid-year 2021 model truck. Improved initial exterior features and trim level options
Chevrolet Trailblazer (available Fall 2020), designed compact SUV to compete in a marketplace segment currently saturated with the Kicks, Venue, CH-R, EcoSport and Compass models.
Chrysler –
Voyager Van model finally makes its debut into the market that the Grand Caravan dominated for years. To this point, production platform continues with the popular passenger version Pacifica series.
Voyager will be 50 state emission complaint and offer fleet programs a viable option for their selectors where they need that work/personal life driver balance.
Hyundai –
Elantra Sedan (available Fall 2020), gets an overdue redesign.
Sonata SUV can expect some news on a release of a redesigned Sonata in early 2021 from Hyundai.
Genesis –
GV80 (available Fall 2020), introducing a full-size SUV 7 passenger which will rival the large Premium SUV market sales of Audi, BMW, Lexus and Infinity buyers.
Genesis G80 Sedan (available Fall 2020)– receives a well-deserved redesign. Performance upgrades to the engine and transmission systems.
Toyota –
Venza (available late 2020), all new crossover platform design with a returning name plate to Toyota.
Sienna Van (available Late 2020), total redesign for the van from the ground platform up. Sienna joins Toyota’s Global platform architecture group that already includes Highlander and Camry models.
Mirai (which means Future in Japanese) will be a new full size sedan offering from Toyota. Expect information out in early 2021.
RAV4 Prime Hybrid Electric SUV – increases battery performance for longer all electric drive distances.
Ford –
Mustang Mach E available Late 2020 but realistically expect the Mustang Mach E in Spring 2021 due to impacts from COVID pandemic. Utilizing the nameplate of the Mustang to showcase the power and performance of Ford’s emergence into the electric market segment.
Bronco Sport SUV (available Fall 2020), expected to rival even the biggest Jeep Wrangler enthusiast. Multiple trim levels, details and options are vast, street ride and off road capabilities are receiving positive industry remarks. Only downside is ability to order any as allocation for production is almost maxed out in early orders.
F150 (available Late 2020) with new exterior styling and new interior ergonomics. New engine options, improved Turbo diesel performance options and an all-Electric model (late spring 2021). *Expect Chevrolet to have its engineers designing their All Electric Silverado Truck very soon!
Nissan –
Rogue (available Late 2020) is the first SUV model to showcase the new platform designs with aerodynamic facia, grill and taillights. Interior redesign improves cabin size capacity, reduces road noise, and improves engine performance and green initiatives. Watch for the Murano, Pathfinder, Kicks and Armada to follow.
Frontier Truck – long awaited new design of the Frontier truck is expected to be available early 2021.
Mercedes Benz –
E Series (available Late 2020) becomes part of the Mercedes Benz sedan class to receive a refresh, new turbo power engine choices. Also available will be a new hybrid gas and electric model that offers plenty of expected MB horsepower.
GLA Series (available Late 2020) is expected to receive some overdue design queues and refreshed exterior and interior upgrades. This will add more horsepower and performance to the driver.
VW –
Atlas and new trim cousin the Atlas Cross Sport receive a refreshed design for 2021 (available Fall 2020).
ID4 EV (available early 2021) has a new model being introduced into the Electric SUV vehicle segment.
Volvo –
XC40 Recharge, (available Late 2021), is Volvo’s first ever all electric powertrain SUV.
Mazda –
CX-30 (available Fall 2020) quietly introduced itself to the mid-size SUV market during the 2020 year. However, expect Mazda to make a large splash with this model in a market segment that competes on price, residual value and overall total cost of ownership.
RAM –
Dakota Series truck (available summer 2021), is RAM’s decision to be competitive in the mid-size truck marketplace. GM and Ford have already increased sales in with the Colorado and Ranger models.
Kia –
Seltos is making some heads turn as this mid-size SUV hits a market that is already filled with options. However, Kia is expecting their option and the price point with a host of standard safety features as well as a extended warranty to the others to have a solid impact on their sales.
